Ack...talk about cutting it close!
Here's an update BEFORE Chinese New Year 2007!
Well, at least where I am. *Tee Hee*

Wow...it's been over a year
since my last update!
My apologies for the lack
of updates, but there really isn't much new on the Joey front,
but I do have some things that I'll try my best to have on this
site before Chinese New Year...YES...Chinese New Year 2007! <GRIN>
In the meantime, here's something
that I think will make up for the lack of updates...
Now, I'm a generally humble
person, but I really think this post deserves a standing ovation
and several hearty pats on the back. <BLUSH>
Before A Chinese Ghost
Story. Before Let's Make Laugh II. Before Working
Class...there was The Commercial...
Reports vary, some sources
say Mona Fong of Shaw Brothers first noticed Joey in a 1984 commercial
and other sources state she was 'discovered' in a 1981 commercial
and was subsequently cast (as a young teen) in It Will be
Cold By The Lakeside This Year. This commercial is from 1984
and is definitely the earliest Joey appearance that I've been
able to find.
Okay, okay...you couldn't
care less about my ramblings...so here it is...The
Commercial :-)
Sorry for the large size
~19 megs. But as always, I can't bear to compromise Joey's beauty
in any way.
A bit of info about the commerical.
This is from a news segment from The Chinese Channel. If anyone
could translate what's being said, it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm really guessing here, but it seems the segment is about commerical
archives focusing on the early careers of starlets. I have the
entire segment that I could make available if anyone would be
kind enough to translate what the story is really about.
A bit of trivia...
Now this may make you question
how humble I really am, but I think it's absolutely remarkable
that I managed to come across this video. In the 16 years that
I've been a Joey fan, I've learned the importance and rewards
of patience.
In this case, here's the breakdown. For the past two years, I've
been subscribing to and recording The Chinese Chinese Channel
almost continuously, 24/7 (hope my cable provider doesn't read
this since I'm using their DVR *giggle*). Anyway, almost every
day I scan through what I've recorded to see if there's any Joey
news. I estimate I scan through 16 hours of video per day (dismissing
series and other shows that I know Joey won't appear in). Multiply
that by 60 minutes x 365 days x 2 years and that's ~700,000 minutes
of video that I've scanned through. My DVR scans at ~30x normal
speed, which means that in this one video segment, I had ~1 second
to notice Joey's beauty! *PHEW*
Actually, the irony is that while I did notice that a cutie briefly
flashed before my eyes, I thought it was someone who only looked
like Joey and it took a couple of viewings to convince myself
of the goldmine I hit upon!
So there it is...patience,
diligence..obesssion??? *SIGH* No matter, I'm just happy that
I was able to find this video and even happier that I'm able to
share it with you...my fellow Joey fans. I hope that you enjoy
it and continue to support and remember that this site and all
that I go through is for you and more importantly...FOR-JOEY!

He Lives! :-)
Hee hee... so sorry for the lack of updates. This silly little
thing called 'real-lfe' keeps intruding on me. *SIGH*
Actually,
part of the reason I haven't done an update in such a long time
is that there hasn't been much news about Joey lately, and what
has been available hasn't been very positive.
But,
I've actually gotten around to doing an update and I've got lots
of new stuff that I hope you'll enjoy. I still have more stuff
and while I can't promise when this site will be updated next,
I will try to make it much, much sooner than this update took.
Thank
you for visiting this site and more importantly...supporting Joey
by remembering and appreciating her beauty and talent.
Joey
News...
The
latest news is that on September 18, 2005, she formally announced
her retirement. Beautiful Shanghai now known as Shanghai
Story has finally been released to theatres, but Joey didn't
appear at the press conference. So it seems that she may actually
remain in retreat this time. More about this news is here.
Site updates...

City Entertainment,

Contact me...
I've
moved this site to a new server and finally got my email working.
If you'd like to contact me, my email address is darin@for-joey.com.
I'm currently working on the links and everything should be fixed
by this weekend.
While this server move affords me much more bandwidth, I ask that
you don't hotlink directly to this site. I had to remove the pictures
in the past and will do so again if I find someone stealing my
bandwidth. You're welcome to download and post the pics on your
site, but please credit this site as the source |
